Tetra SafeStart 50ml

Tetra's filter starter uses a patented mix of live bacteria that deal with ammonia and nitrite in aquarium water. These particular bacteria are not included in any other product, and they set the filter to work straight away. With ammonia and nitrite taken out of the picture, fish have a safe home and your new tank needs very little fuss.

The blend comes from years of study into which bacteria actually handle ammonia and nitrite in aquarium filters. That work showed the strains long assumed to do the job, and used in other filter start products, are not the ones keeping an aquarium healthy. By isolating and culturing the bacteria genuinely involved, SafeStart gives a dependable way to bring a new filter online quickly, so fish can go in immediately and settle into better conditions.

Key benefits

• Patented bacteria blend not available in any other product
• Removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from aquarium water
• Activates a new filter instantly
• Allows fish to be introduced straight away
• Keeps maintenance to a minimum in a new aquarium
• Also suitable after filter cleaning, water changes or water quality problems

How to use

When setting up a new aquarium: Set the aquarium up and turn on all equipment. Wait at least 24hrs to ensure that the equipment is working correctly, and to allow the aquarium to reach the correct temperature. Then add 5ml of SafeStart per 6 litres of water. We recommend a stocking level of adult fish equivalent to 1cm per litre. This refers to the eventual size of the fish, not the size when they are added (e.g. 10 Neon Tetras at 1.5cm each are equivalent to approximately 25cm when adult).

Following filter maintenance, water quality problems, or water changes: Add 5ml of SafeStart per 6 litres of water, following any aquarium maintenance.
