Coconut oil has found its way into a lot of Irish dog cupboards. It can be rubbed on directly or added to the bowl as a food supplement, and there are good reasons for both.

The oil is pressed from the meat of the coconut, which carries saturated fats known as MCTs. You will find the same fats in kernel oil, butter and milk, and all of them suit the skin and coat. MCTs are fatty acids generally thought of as the 'good' sort of fat, and given in moderation they can do your dog some favours.
